
Following undergraduate studies at Birmingham College of Art & Design, Colin Kerrigan worked as an assistant to the renowned sculptor Sir Anthony Caro. He went on to pursue a Rotary International Fellowship and postgraduate studies in sculpture at Bennington College, Vermont.
In a career spanning many years, Colin Kerrigan’s award-winning sculptures are included in a number of public and private collections around the world. He is inspired by unfolding narratives and the endless permutations and interactions between form and space. Recurring themes in both his large and small scale sculptures include points of transition and boundaries. Recently he has collaborated with various agencies on a series of public sculptures within urban environments.
Before founding ISCA a decade ago, Colin Kerrigan was the Deputy Director of International Development at the University of the Arts London (UAL) where he established portfolio academies in China, Korea, India and Europe to support aspiring artists and designers to gain entry to UAL’s prestigious undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
Robert Hunter graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Hispanic Studies with Linguistics and went on to qualify first as an English language teacher and later as an education manager. After several years of teaching English to children and adults, he began to build up experience in managerial roles, first as the Director of Studies of a large language school in Turin, Italy before setting up a school of his own in Northern Italy.
Since 2001 he has worked in the international education sector in a variety of senior management roles including Vice-Principal at the International Sahaj Public School in Dharamshala, India and then Principal of the New Zealand School of Business & Technology in Auckland, New Zealand. Later he was General Manager of the Nirmala Devi World Foundation in Piedmont, Italy, a cultural foundation which highlights innovative approaches in the fields of education and wellbeing.
Lisa Stewart graduated from Central St Martins with a BA Hons in Fine Art and completed a PGCE in Art Education at Goldsmiths University, London. An experienced art educator, she has managed art departments in both the independent and state sectors. As a fine artist specialist and published author she has continued to explore creativity through writing, poetry and painting. Lisa Stewart has contributed to exhibitions in London, Oxford and throughout the UK. She describes her work as figurative with abstract elements and integrates mixed media assemblages using print and found materials with a passion for colour and surface.
Working primarily in Secondary Schools in West London and as Head of Art and Design at Preston Manor High School in Wembley, a large state Comprehensive and at St Margaret’s Bushey and an Independent school in Watford, Lisa Stewart has extensive experience in Art and Design education, developing curricula, schemes of learning and projects for students aged 11 – 18.
Joseph Kerrigan pursued postgraduate studies in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art (UAL) following undergraduate studies in Fine Art and History of Art at University of Reading. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the Institute of Education, University College London. With a background in Fine Art and Art History, Joseph Kerrigan has delivered a range of online programmes to international students both in the UK and abroad and has taught short courses and workshops in South East Asia on behalf of ISCA. Joseph specialises in developing practical skills with an understanding of contextual information and theoretical analysis.
Other teaching experiences include working at Reading University as a guest speaker for Fine Art futures and careers event. Joseph also worked as a Foundation and Level 3 Art & Design tutor at Kingston College prior to working at ISCA. His own creative practice revolves around mixed-media audio/visual installations, but also manifests ideas in prints and drawings, which have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. His work responds to both natural and urban environments, while adopting both a nocturnal aesthetic.
After graduating with a BA Hons in Textiles & Fashion from Winchester School of Art, Patricia Andrianou-Green went on to complete a Masters in Contemporary Crafts Printed & Woven Textiles at The Surrey Institute of Art & Design and also a PGCE. She has taught to degree level at schools and universities across the UK and been involved in several arts projects for the National Trust and Cumbria Arts in Education.
Her work, which focuses on knitted, felted, printed textiles and surface pattern design, has been exhibited at numerous exhibitions and galleries in the UK and Europe. In 2004 she was the winner of the prestigious Royal Society of Arts Award in RSA Design Directions Textiles Innovation – Furnishing Textiles. As part of the prize she travelled to Melbourne Australia at the invitation of the Australian Wool Innovation Company. She has worked closely with the Crafts Council, London to assist artists in establishing their own practice.
Patricia Andrianou-Green has also worked as a Surface Pattern Designer for leading designer labels including Ralph Lauren and Oscar De La Renta.
Martin Drexler graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Metalsmithing. He began his teaching career at the Oregon School of Arts and Crafts (USA) where he taught jewellery fabrication and tool making. Since then, in addition to metalsmithing, he has taught a range of fine art practices including photography, drawing and painting at several prestigious educational institutions in the USA.
In his artwork, Martin Drexler utilises numerous materials and formats. With a primary focus on the human experience, his interest includes both portraiture and traditional depictions of the human form, as well as themes such as intimacy and procreation, power dynamics and pathological states.
He has exhibited his artwork internationally, including at The Royal West Academy of Art in Bristol (UK) and The Charles Addams Gallery at the University of Pennsylvania. He was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize in London and featured in the 2014 publication Strokes of Genius 6. In September 2015, his work was included in the exhibition The Craft of Drawing and Painting at London’s Leighton House Museum.
Lisa Wendt graduated from WITS University in Johannesburg with a BA Hons in Fine Art and completed a PGCE in Art Education at the University of South Africa. An experienced educator, gallery owner and curator, she has taught in both independent and state sectors in South Africa and England. As a fine art specialist, she runs workshops at R Young Gallery in Berkshire and assists with curator and conservation services. She has contributed to exhibitions in Johannesburg and London and her work was selected for the People Opposing Women Abuse campaign in South Africa. She often combines elements and colour from her surroundings to explore the themes of memory, identity and home in her abstract paintings. Some of her commissioned work is included in collections for First National Bank, MBD Attorneys and Witwater Safari Lodge in Johannesburg.
Junyi Ye holds a BA (Hons) and MA in Fashion Womenswear Design with a focus on Print and Textiles from Central Saint Martins (UAL). She is one of a few Chinese graduates in this specialisation and her MA graduate work was showcased at the Selfridges cinema in the UK.
In 2019, Junyi Ye worked at the luxury brand Victoria Beckham’s London headquarters, where she participated in the design and production of the brand’s Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer collections. In 2020, she collaborated with Studio Rokh to create a series of shoe designs, which were successfully launched at Dover Street Market, a retail store established by Rei Kawakubo in the UK.
In 2022, her collaborative project with Canada Goose, titled “The Modern Craft,” was selected for display at the Lethaby Gallery in the UK. Her work, “East Meets West -Cultural Fusion,” was acquired by the Chancellor of the University of the Arts London, the world-renowned artist and Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry. Her designs have been featured in numerous magazines and websites, including the British editions of Dazed, The Face and WWD. Junyi Ye launched her own label in 2023 and was invited to showcase her capsule collection on the British fashion platform “Fashion Crossover London.”
Junyi Ye has offered personalised one-on-one tutorials with constructive feedback to Foundation students as a freelance mentor.
Phng Keng Boon is a practicing illustrator and printmaker, having graduated in 2021 from London College of Communication (UAL) with a first class honours in BA Illustration and Visual Media. She creates work that are playful and narrative driven.
She has showcased her art in various exhibits including the Kew Art Studio’s Winter Exhibition in 2022, and the Tiger Year Exhibition, hosted by the Steamroom. Phng Keng Boon also manages a small online business, where she sells her own designs through prints and other products, such as T-shirts and greeting cards.
Phng Keng Boon has also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education at Kingston University.
Silja Manninen: Art and Design Tutor
Silja Manninen graduated from the prestigious MA womenswear course at Central Saint Martins (UAL). She is a London-based womenswear designer who has been sponsored by major international brands including Swarovski to develop her own collection. She worked as head designer at Michiko Koshino, and as a consultant on start-up brands, as well as designing and selling printed textiles. Under her own label, she is currently designing a capsule collection of conceptual accessories, dresses as well as swimwear and has shown her work at London, New York and Berlin Fashion Weeks. Her work has been exhibited at the V&A Museum and featured in numerous publications including British Vogue.
Silja Manninen has teaching experience as Programme Leader of Fashion Business and Fashion Design pathways at LCCA (London College of Contemporary Arts), London Campus Course Leader MSc Fashion Design and Luxury Management at GGSB (Grenoble Graduate School of Business) Tutor and Digital print workshops at the V&A Museum London.
Rosemary Chair studied for an MA in Modern Languages and Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. She is also CELTA qualified from The Language Centre in Reading. Rosemary Chair has taught English to students of all ages and nationalities, both in the UK and abroad, including three years as an English Language Instructor and Course Designer for the Ministry of Telecommunications in Algeria. She later worked as an English Tutor to Japanese business students, diplomats and government officials at the Euro-Japanese Exchange Foundation here in the UK. In Turkey, she taught English to the children of diplomats at the Pakistan Embassy School in Ankara, and in Italy, tutored the President of the Fashion Agency in Rome, as well as students at Rome International School.
With her many years’ experience preparing students for IELTS, iGCSE and Cambridge Certificate exams, Rosemary Chair has been an English Tutor at ISCA since 2018.
She has a particular interest in the physical and emotional wellbeing of young people, and provides counselling to our students in her pastoral role as ISCA Student Welfare Tutor.
Emily Russell graduated from Leeds University with a BA (Hons) in English Literature and Drama, Film & TV and went on to qualify as an English language teacher.
Her first teaching role was with VSO in China (Guangxi province) where she was based in Yulin Teacher Training college. After a year she worked at International House in Moscow; exam writing and teaching children, teenagers and adults. Leaving to move to the Republic of Ireland, she spent seven years teaching multinational classes at Cork International Language school (Cambridge exams, TOEIC and TOEFL) as well as being a CELTA trainer.
On her return to England she taught English in an all male immigration centre at Heathrow airport and a women’s prison. Her next stage was working in English state schools (primary and secondary); first as a librarian then as an EFL teacher.
In 2022 she completed her teacher training to become an English, Humanities and SEN teacher at Langley Academy, a large state comprehensive school near London.
John Webster is an experienced Taekwondo Master who has coached the New Zealand Olympic and World Championships team. He coached Olympic medallist Lutola Muhammad at London 2012 and Rio 2016 and was also part of the advisory committee for the London 2012 games. He is a former national coach for Malta and Grenada.
John Webster was Director of Sport at Brunel University and teaches most core sports. He was recognised with a Mayor’s Award for his work teaching and inspiring over 100 children during the pandemic.
John Webster’s students have starred in the Marvel Films and Mission Impossible.
Outside of sports, John Webster is an accomplished saxophonist.
ISCA art and design tutors Joseph Kerrigan and Trish Phng Keng Boon have collaborated to create Bo Boon whereby they undertake projects in the field of illustration, print, comics and zines, craft and other merchandise. Both are illustrative artists and enjoy the fun and whimsical side of life. They take inspiration from different influences such as a cat called Luna, comics and manga, as well as eastern and western cultural heritage.
Joseph Kerrigan has a Masters degree in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and a Post-Compulsory Education degree from Institute of Education, University College London. Trish Phng Keng Boon has a BA degree in Illustration and Visual Media from London College of Communication.
